You Glaswegians are lucky enough to have two international airpots at your disposal - but try to not act too superior about it, will you? Those of us in one-airport regions are ever so grateful.
Glasgow International Airport (airport code GLA) is the city's largest airport and also the largest and busiest airport in all of Scotland. It is roughly eight miles from the city centre near Paisley and Renfrew. Flights from Glasgow International are primarily concentrated on the domestic market, but there are also regular flights to Canada and the United States as well as Dubai and Pakistan, so your holiday choices are a bit wider than you might have thought.
Loganair, easyJet and Flyglobespan all operate hubs at Glasgow International Airport, and these are also the airlines which serve the most cities from this airport. To browse through the entire list of airlines departing from Glasgow International, see this page. Reaching the airport should not be difficult, as there are a few choices for transport. A shuttle bus makes frequent trips between the airport terminal and the main railway stations in the city centre, and also a rail/bus combination service. There is more information about airport transport here.
Glasgow Prestwick International Airport (airport code PIK) is Glasgow's "other" airport. It lies north of Prestwick and is actually more than 30 miles from Glasgow itself, but is an increasingly popular choice in the region. This is largely due to the airport's popularity with Europe's many budget airlines. In particular, Ryanair uses Prestwick as a hub airport and also operates the majority of the departing flights. The only other airlines serving Prestwick at present are Aer Arann, transavia.com and Wizz Air, although there are also a number of charter and holiday airlines which operate seasonal routes from Prestwick. A complete list of destinations served is here. Getting to the airport is not difficult, especially as the airport has its own railway station. You can read more about your transport options here.
