Newcastle Airport (airport code NCL) lies roughly six miles from Newcastle upon Tyne city centre and is the UK's tenth largest airport. The airport serves more than just the city of Newcastle, however, as evidenced by the airport being owned primarily by seven local authorities - including the Durham City Council, Northumberland City Council and City of Sunderland.
