Once you set foot in this interesting city you might have the impression that the proper translation for the name of the city would be "chaos" (reason enough not to even attempt to rent a car). But with proper planning and knowing what to expect, the time spent in Cairo can be wonderful. Evidently, the city is the perfect base if you plan to explore the Pyramids and the near-by area, but Cairo is also proud to be home to the Egyptian Museum, a world class museum which can teach you a lot about the place. Checking out the streets and numerous vendors can be a treat for the eyes but make sure not to be dragged into buying what you don't plan to take home.
