Cheap Flights to Frankfurt

While it is true that you might not want to spend a fortnight in Frankfurt (unless, of course, you lived there), it is more than just a city devoted to banking. In other words, there are things to see and do in Frankfurt even if you are not there on business. Besides, the Frankfurt Airport (airport code FRA) is such a massive hub in Europe that if you grow weary of the city after a few days, you can easily hop a flight to just about anywhere else in the world.

The airline giant Lufthansa has its main base at Frankfurt, but the airport is served by dozens of other airlines as well. In addition to a few flights on Lufthansa from the U.K., Flybe, British Airways and BA CityFlyer operate regular flights from cities in the U.K. All the airlines serving Frankfurt are listed on the drop-down menu on this page.

Frankfurt's airport is enormous - it serves more destinations than even Heathrow and is the third busiest airport in Europe - but there are plans on the drawing table which would expand the airport to include a fourth runway and a third terminal. So you will need the terminal maps here, especially during construction, in order to navigate your way round. Displaying typical German efficiency, they have made getting from the airport to Frankfurt city centre dead simple. From rail service right next to Terminal 1 and bus service right outside Terminals 1 and 2, it really could not be easier to make your way out of the airport. The links on this page should help you find the transit method that is right for you, including the car hire agencies listed on this page.

If you are looking for a bargain flight and you do not mind a bit of a train ride to get into Frankfurt, there is also the airport with the misleading name - Frankfurt-Hahn Airport (airport code HHN). Regardless of what you might be led to believe, this airport is actually just over six miles from the town of Kirchberg, which is 75 miles west of Frankfurt. It is, however, a major destination for Ryanair, which flies to Frankfurt-Hahn from Glasgow-Prestwick and London-Stansted (two more airports with potentially misleading names - do we sense a pattern?). All airlines and tour operators with service to Frankfurt-Hahn are listed here.

Because Frankfurt-Hahn is so far from the first city in its name, getting from the airport to Frankfurt is of primary importance. This page lists all ground transport options, including buses and charter buses, although there is no rail service which connects to the airport. If you prefer to have your own car, you can hire one from the agencies listed here.

We hope you have a brilliant time on your trip to Frankfurt, and if you need any more information about what to do or see while you are there, be sure to read our Frankfurt Travel Guide.
