Lisbon fascinates its travelers with the beautiful limestone buildings, extraordinary views of the ocean, lively nightlife and charm, which make Portugal's capital an excellent travel destination year round.

Lisbon's Airport

Portela Airport is actually located within the city limits but takes the name from a nearby town. It is, however, also known as Lisbon Airport. The airport is large enough to handle a lot of flights from all over Europe, including the United Kingdom. Direct flights from London are offered by easyJet, British Airways and TAP. There are also direct flights from Manchester offered by bmibaby. If you need to fly from other British cities into Lisbon you'll most likely need to take an indirect flight (and connect in London, Manchester or Madrid). You probably don't plan to spend too much time within the airport itself, but should you feel the need to sip a coffee before you head to the hotel, here is a list of the cafes available in the airport.

Since the airport is located within the city limits, it's easy to get to the city center. You can take one of the buses – which include the aerobus and the shuttle -, catch the metro or get a cab. Alternative airport

Many carriers offer flights to Lisbon via Madrid. The city's main airport is Mad rid Barajas International Airport and is the main gateway not only into Spain but also into the rest of the area. The airport is the main hub for Iberia which is responsible for more than half the airplane traffic on this airport. In many cases it's cheaper to fly from the United Kingdom into Madrid and then continue from Mad rid to Lisbon on a low-cost flight, train, bus or by rental car.
