Tired of the not-so-fresh air in the UK? Then you've got at least one reason to visit Stockholm. Sweden's capital is not only a cosmopolite, lively town but is also blessed with the freshest air in the entire Europe (thanks to the many waterways and parks). The Old Town is charming and you might feel that you’ve just ended up in a fairy tale as you stroll among the beautiful towers.
The largest airport in Sweden is also the most important airport serving Stockholm. Stockholm-Arlanda Airport is located about 40 km from downtown and is a major hub for Scandinavian Airline System (SAS). There are quite a lot of direct flights from UK to Stockholm. SAS flies from London (Heathrow), Edinburgh and Manchester. British Airways flies from London Heathrow while Viking Airlines flies from London Gatwick. There are plenty of public transport alternatives to get from the airport to the city. These include: trains (high speed, long distance, local), local buses and coaches. The second largest airport serving Stockholm is Skavsta Airport, located about 100 km from downtown. The airport is mostly used by low-cost carriers, including Ryanair, which flies from London (Stansted and Gatwick), Liverpool, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Birmingham. There are quite a lot of options to get from the airport to the city, including bus, train and taxi. The closest airport to the city is Bromma Airport (just 7 km from downtown) but it receives mostly domestic flights and there are no flights from UK available.
